Chaos;Head Review

  • Setting & Story: Takumi Nishijou, a high school student at the Private Suimei Academy, one day hears about the ‘New Gen’ murders that have been occurring around the city. Although dismissing the subject because it doesn’t involve him, Takumi begins to experience strange mishaps around him, from a horrific picture he received while on his PC, to a mysterious Pink-Haired girl standing at a murder scene. With what seemed to be a murder mystery anime with supernatural elements the show showed promise. ( But this show was kinda like Stiens;Gate and by that I mean it liked to talk out of it’s ass with technical talk to try to portray a realistic story while the plot ultimately goes nowhere. )
  • Sound: The overall tracks of the show were nice to listen to on their own, but the show made no attempt to use the music to enhance the mood that was already present instead the music tried to create it’s own mood ultimately making scenes irritable to watch.
  • Art & Animation: The art style for the show worked for the mood it was trying to create at least for the scenery if nothing else, the animation was basic for most scenes but during action scenes they switched to still frames which was disappointing considering Madhouse worked on this.
  • Characters & Character Development: The show had a miserable excuse for an MC that isn’t engaging in the least or even likable along with relationships that were thrown together for what I’m assuming was just because they could, characters jumped in and out of the story only when it was convenient, what was supposed to be heartfelt or romantic scenes were just hard and awkward to watch since the characters had no real reason to feel the way they did.
  • Ending: The ending created more questions than it answered, it seemed to fix the problem at hand but it wasn’t very fulfilling.

Now hopefully you read all of that to choose whether or not you’re interested in this show, but in case you care more about numbers than words here ya go, also remember that this is my personal opinion of the show if something I said deterred you when you were already interested in the show don’t let it stop you from watching everyone has their own tastes so take everything I say with a grain of salt.
